CHICAGO – Patriots running back Sony Michel was carted to the locker room after a knee injury during Sunday’s game against the Bears. The Patriots initially announced that his return is questionable before ruling him out during halftime.

Michel twisted his left knee as he went down via tackle from Chicago defensive tackle Bilal Nichols. The left knee is the same one Michel has had issues with since his college days at Georgia. Michel, who fumbled on the play, went with trainers to the blue pop-up medical tent, then was carted from there to the locker room.

The rookie first-round draft pick was off to a good start on the field with four carries for 22 yards. He was injured on the first play of the second quarter.

Without him, the Patriots are down to James White and Kenjon Barner at running back. White is a big part of the offense but is mostly used as a pass catcher. Barner has six carries so far this year.
