One game into the 2014 season, righthanders Megan Colleran and Brooke Tetreault are already in midseason form. Colleran, a senior at North Attleboro, and Tetreault, a senior at Greater New Bedford, each pitched a no-hitter on Tuesday.
Colleran recorded all 15 outs via strikeout in an 18-0, five-inning win at Canton, while Tetreault fanned 10 batters in a 12-0, five-inning victory over Bishop Connolly.
The lone baserunner reached on a dropped third strike against Colleran, who faced 16 batters and threw only 59 pitches.
But that’s just half the story. Colleran also had a home run, two triples and 7 RBIs.
“That’s like little league stats,” North Attleboro coach Bill Wallace said. “She’s had some good games before, don’t get me wrong. But this was a kid’s dream.”
