The Duxbury High girls’ hockey program is the three-time reigning Division 2 state championn.
But there will be no defense of that crown this season.
The Dragons felt it was time to move up to Division 1.
“We wanted the competition,” said senior goaltender Rachel Myette, who will play college hockey at Quinnipiac. “Nothing bad would happen if we go up. We were done with D2.”
In 2009, the program’s Division 2 status was renewed and Duxbury chose not to appeal. They were locked out of Division 1 for a minimum for four seasons.
