Vermont to get professional indoor football team
BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — Vermont will be getting a professional indoor football team.
The Burlington Free Press has confirmed that the Vermont Bucks are expected to join the American Indoor Football league as an expansion franchise next year.
Team owner Tim Viens says such a team has been a dream of his for about four years. He says people are very excited about it based on the response he’s received.
Viens hopes the team will play home games at University of Vermont’s Gutterson Fieldhouse. UVM’s athletic director told the newspaper that the school has had serious conversations with the Bucks.
The 39-year-old Viens is a 1995 graduate of South Burlington High School and part-time racecar driver on the NASCAR circuit. He lives in Florida and has a second home in South Hero, Vermont.
