During Tuesday’s concert at Fenway Park, Pearl Jam lead singer Eddie Vedder took a moment to mention John Martin.
A NESN videographer for 19 years, Martin is currently battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). In between songs, Vedder mentioned Martin and “Café Martin,” holding up a hat.
“I want him to know that he has my support, our support,” said Vedder. Here’s video of the moment:
Hey @Toucherandrich, you’ve been talking @PearlJam all morning, but you’re leaving out the best part of the whole night…Vedder sending positive vibes to former #NESN camera man John Martin while holding up his #CafeMartin hat. Vedder recommended visiting Café Martin, which is located on the Martins’ patio at their home in Newton. It’s become a place where friends will go to visit Martin regularly.
The sale of Café Martin hats has helped the family raise money for the John Martin Fund, which goes straight to funding John’s ongoing battle with ALS.
