Pats win out

It was quite the national debut for regular Red Sox voice Don Orsillo, who was thrust onto the scene when he called the Rockies’ thrilling extra-inning win over the Padres on TBS Monday night. So, what did regular broadcast partner Jerry Remy think of the job Orsillo did broadcasting the historic play-in game?

“I didn’t watch him,” Remy said as he made his way to the Fenway Park mound to throw out the first pitch prior to tonight’s Angels-Red Sox showdown in Game 1 of the ALDS. “Honest to God, I was watching the Patriots. I forgot the game was on. I had not seen a Patriots game yet because we’ve been working, and I’ve heard so much about [Randy] Moss and I wanted to see it first-hand.

“I was going around the news, and they had just said it was tied in San Diego. By that time I was half-drunk and I wanted to go to bed.”
