Perk up

Up until Feb. 24 – otherwise known as the NBA trade deadline – the Celtics had lost only 15 times during the 2010-11 campaign. In the 20 days since, they have lost four games, particularly including Monday’s lackluster outing in New Jersey.

Of course, the reason for all this is as simple as Danny Ainge had an unexplainable need to make headlines at the trade deadline, so he shipped Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson to Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Jeff Green and Nenad Krstic, thoroughly nose-diving team morale in the process. No other explanation, right? Heck if I know. They could just be hitting the pause button much like they did last season.

In any case, ESPN’s “The Association: The Boston Celtics” continues tonight with a look at the Celtics locker room the night the trade went down, which should make for entertaining TV, seeing how the immediate reaction on the parts of Paul Pierce and Co. reportedly went something like, “WTF?”

The episode airs tonight at 7.
