Girls’ hockey players of the week

Krista Toscano, Burlington — The senior helped the Red Devils clinch a spot in the state tournament, potting the winner 6:45 into the second period of Burlington’s 2-1 victory over Watertown/Belmont Thursday. The forward also scored both of her squad’s goals in a 2-1 win over Melrose Saturday, registering her 125th career point in the process.

Melissa Zavez, Winchester — The sophomore forward scored two goals in the final two minutes to help the Sachems earn a 3-3 tie with Lexington Saturday. With the victory, Winchester qualified for the state tournmanent.

Meaghan Carney, Bishop Fenwick — The freshman defenseman’s winner clinched the host Crusaders’ first MIAA win, a 3-2 victory Saturday over Cape Cod Tech/Nauset.


Ashley Castriotta, Framingham — The senior goalie had 34 saves as the host Flyers tied Braintree, 4-4, Saturday. Castriotta boasts a 2.33 goals against average this season.

Maggie Landers, Fontbonne — The freshman forward scord in the Ducks’ 1-1 tie with Ursuline Saturday, Fontbonne is 6-7-3 with four games remaining in the regular season.
