Touching All the Bases

ESPN’s ‘Sunday Night Baseball’ Will Broadcast Yankees-Red Sox Game from Monster Seats

Even if you want to nitpick and note that when sitting in Fenway Park’s Green Monster seats, you often lose sight of the ball when its hit to left field, there’s no doubt it’s still a fun and distinctive vantage point from which to watch a ball game.

Or, apparently, to broadcast one.

ESPN will find out for sure Sunday night when play-by-play voice Dan Shulman and analyst John Kruk will call the entire Red Sox-Yankees game from the Monster seats.

The booth will be set up in Section 9 atop the Green Monster. According to ESPN, no fans have been displaced from their seats — the network bought the tickets.

Viewers will occasionally be treated to the view from the broadcast area via a handheld camera.

ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball crew has done the on-location-within-a-location thing once this year when Shulman and Kruk called a May game from the bleachers at Wrigley Field.
