A couple more comings and goings at NESN in the next few weeks and we’ll have to start keeping track of them in the transactions log.
Leah Hextall is gone. Jamie Erdahl is going. Gary Striewski is staying put. Guerin Austin is arriving soon. And today, the network announced its latest hire.
Nikki Reyes is joining NESN as a feature reporter/anchor, initially appearing on NESN Sports Today and NESN Live.
A Toronto native, she comes to NESN from Top Rank Boxing in Las Vegas, where she worked as a reporter and senior producer since 2010.
She also worked as a correspondent for The Fight Network, a field producer for EXTRA and NBC Universal and has worked as a host and associate producer on the NBA-TV Canada program NBA XL.
Her qualifications make her seem like a potential fit on the much-rumored potential morning program.
“Nikki has an engaging personality and unique broadcasting background that includes sports and entertainment reporting on national programs, plus experience field producing stories,” said Joseph Maar, NESN’s vice president of programming and production/executive producer in a statement.
“This versatility along with her charm and sense of humor make Nikki a great fit for fans who want fun and engaging coverage of our teams and the Boston sports scene.”
Reyes fills the role previously held by Striewski, who found a niche as NESN’s primary Red Sox sideline reporter.
Erdahl is joining the CBS Sports Network as its lead college football sideline reporter. She will also work SEC doubleheader games on the main network.
NESN said a search is underway to replace Hextall, who left last month to become a studio host with Rogers SportsNet in Canada.
