Sports Hub first, WEEI third in fall Nielsen Audio ratings

CBS Radio’s 98.5 The Sports Hub finished first and Entercom’s WEEI (93.7) was third in the men 25-54 demographic for the three-month fall Nielsen Audio Ratings period of September 11-December 3.

The Sports Hub had a 10.5 share, while WEEI had 7.0. Rock station WZLX, also owned by CBS Radio, was second (7.4).

It’s the 10th straight three-month period that the Sports Hub has been the top-rated sports station in the market.

In morning drive, The Sports Hub’s Toucher and Rich program regained the top spot, earning an 11.4 share. WEEI’s Dennis and Callahan program, which also includes third host Kirk Minihane, was strong second with a 9.7.

T&R had been the highest-rated sports show in the mornings for eight straight three-month periods before getting edged by D&C in the summer. D&C was second over the summer (8.3) share, while T&R was third (8.2).

In other day parts:

In middays (10 a.m.-2 p.m.), the Sports Hub’s Gresh and Zo program finished second (8.5) while WEEI’s Middays With MFB, featuring Lou Merloni, Christian Fauria, and Tim Benz, was fourth (6.3). WZLX’s Carter Alan program finished first (9.3).

In afternoon drive (2-6 p.m.), the Sports Hub’s Felger and Massarotti show was first for the 10th straight ratings period with a huge 13.6 share. WEEI’s Dale and Holley program was second with an 8.0, a solid number in any context.

In the 6-11 p.m. period, The Sports Hub, featuring the Adam Jones show and Bruins and Celtics broadcasts, was first (8.8). WEEI tied WROR for fourth (5.4). The time-slot includes the Planet Mikey show as well as late-season Red Sox broadcasts.
