Things were dicey early for the Tufts men in Sunday’s Div. 3 championship in Philadelphia, but the Jumbos rallied to take their second straight title and third overall with a 19-11 win over Lynchburg.

Lynchburg staked a 4-0 lead early in the first quarter but Tufts (21-2) roared back, and they took a 5-4 lead into the second frame and expanded their lead to a 10-6 margin by halftime. The Jumbos pulled away in the second half.

Conor Helfrich was named Most Outstanding Player after going 23-for-31 from the faceoff X. John Uppgren had four goals and four assists and Cole Bailey had three goals and four assists. Tufts downed Salisbury last year and in 2010 for the program’s first two titles.
