Massachusetts College for Art and Design is hosting its first in-person fashion show since 2019 on Saturday, May 14.
The show — entitled “404 Not Found” — features the work of 21 graduating seniors from MassArt. MassArt said their work deals with themes such as gender identity and grief.
MassArt is hosting two of the shows at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the campus’ Design and Media Center.
“Through my collection, I focus on using the traditional color of mourning, black, while also implementing a printed fabric full of color and messaging to exhibit the journey through grief and growth and how both can co-exist,” senior Sabrina Hollander wrote about her collection, “In Memory Of…”
“Lost in Translation is a narrative ready to wear collection based on the experiences as a transmasculine individual,” Izzy DeSmet wrote about his collection “Lost in Translation.” “To convey the emotional and physical stages of transitioning I used shapes inspired by Henri Matisse’s cut out shapes of the human figure as well as texture manipulation.”
The live runway show is the first the college has hosted since 2019, due to COVID-19. Masks are required to enter the show, according to MassArt.
Tickets are $40 and are available on MassArt’s website.
MassArt will also be live-streaming the event for those unable to attend.
