The Museum of Fine Art’s annual flower festival makes its in-person return for the first time since 2019. The Art in Bloom weekend-long event features all things flowers in celebration of the return of spring with guests speakers, events, shopping, and oodles of fresh flower arrangements.
Fifty New England floral designers will put together stunning flower arrangements and interpretations throughout the museum’s galleries. The Art in Bloom Market in the courtyard will feature goods from 10 vendors for sale —plus the Garden Cart, with home and garden items like teacups filled with fresh flowers. Free guided tours of the flower arrangements will be available with museum admission all weekend.
The event preview kicks off Thursday, April 28, when the arrangements are on view beginning at noon. Private guided tours are available for up to 15 people starting at 2 p.m. The weekend’s event lineup includes master classes with renowned florist Françoise Weeks on Saturday and a Sunday lecture with designer Michael Putnam on creating colorful, romantic arrangements. Member night on April 30 from 6 to 9 p.m. gives members an exclusive opportunity to explore the arrangements, shop at the market, and even see a fashion show featuring Françoise Weeks’ botanical haute couture.
The weekend will also see the Art in Bloom Café in the Koch Gallery, plus select live music performances. The MFA will still include some virtual event offerings this year, like interactive private group tours from April 6 through 13, and recorded guided tours from April 6 through 27.
