Following its 2019 Tony-winning premiere on Broadway, “Tina: The Tina Turner Musical” comes to the Opera House for a two-week run this fall. The show was written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Katori Hall and features the music of rock icon Tina Turner.

Widely referred to as the “Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll,” Tina Turner was born in Nutbush, Tennessee in 1939. Her turbulent singing career began when she met and married Ike Turner in the ‘60s. The made-for-TV movie “What’s Love Got to Do With It” first told Turner’s story of her rise to fame and her abusive husband and manager. In the ‘80s, Turner came into her own as a solo artist, winning eight Grammy Awards over her lifetime, and, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, she’s sold more concert tickets than any other artist.

The musical, which runs for 2 hours and 45 minutes with an intermission, stars Naomi Rodgers and Zurin Villanueva sharing the role of Tina. The show won a 2020 Tony for Best Actress, and was nominated for 11 other Tony awards. Tickets are currently on sale on Ticketmaster.
