This performer needs no introduction: Ringo Starr is headed to Boston.

The Beatles drummer and his All Starr Band, plus the Avett Brothers, are set to play the Wang Theatre on June 2.

Back in 2019, before the pandemic era, Starr and his band played The Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona.

“Starr’s charisma was present from the start of the show as he moved from all areas of the round stage flashing his characteristic peace sign and his infectious smile,” a reviewer for Glide Magazine wrote at the time. “Those fans in the front row got extra individual attention from Starr throughout the show.”

The setlist for this concert included Starr’s song “It Don’t Come Easy,” plus a variety of Beatles covers, including “Don’t Pass Me By,” “Yellow Submarine,” and “With a Little Help from My Friends,” according to the magazine.

Part of the show was also made up of the band taking the stage without Starr, who left while they played, the magazine said.

Starr also took a seat behind a drumset, acting as the band’s second drummer.

“The lean Starr may have seemed a bit fragile when he was singing lead, but he was as strong as a tiger when he was seated behind the drum set,” the Glide writer said. “Two drummers created an explosive sound for the band.”

As for the Avett Brothers, they played an enjoyable show at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts in Vienna, Virginia last September, according to a reviewer for Americana Highways.

“By the show’s end, the band had performed four songs each from ‘True Sadness’ (including the lovely closer ‘No Hard Feelings’) and 2007’s ‘Emotionalism’ as well as tracks from seven other albums,” the reviewer wrote. “Covers included the traditional instrumental ‘Old Joe Clark’ and Ola Belle Reed’s ‘I’ve Endured.’”
