The full Boston Calling 2022 lineup is here, and festival organizers have found some hard-rocking headliners to replace Rage Against the Machine, Foo Fighters, and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Boston Calling finalized its lineup on April 6 with the announcement of Trent Reznor’s industrial rock outfit Nine Inch Nails as its third headliner.

NIN joins The Strokes and Metallica as headliners at this year’s festival, which will be held at the Harvard Athletic Complex in Allston on Memorial Day weekend from May 27 to 29.

Nine Inch Nails’ performance at Boston Calling will be the fourth show on the group’s 2022 tour, which kicks off April 28 in Raleigh, N.C.

Nine Inch Nails will headline Friday’s show, while The Strokes and Metallica close out the festival on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

In total, fans will be able to enjoy a lineup of more than 50 performers, including the largest collection of regional artists ever assembled at Boston Calling.

Along with the headliners, top-billed performers include electronica group Rüfüs Du Sol, alt-rockers Weezer, sibling rock trio HAIM, hip-hop duo Run The Jewels, indie rock group Glass Animals, Aussie prog rockers King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, 2000s pop-punk icon Avril Lavigne, psychedelic soul band Black Pumas, Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Cheap Trick, Connecticut jam band Goose, hip-hop duo EARTHGANG, and rock group Modest Mouse.

“We are so thrilled to bring Boston Calling back, and we cannot thank our loyal fans enough for supporting us as we navigated the pandemic,” Boston Calling CEO Brian Appel said in a press release. “This year’s lineup is particularly special for us. It not only signifies a return to the things we love, but it also celebrates some of the world’s most renowned acts, exciting up-and-comers, and Boston’s talented music scene.”

Metallica, The Strokes, and Nine Inch Nails are effectively replacing Rage Against the Machine, Foo Fighters, and Red Hot Chili Peppers, who were originally slated to headline Boston Calling 2020.

Rage announced the cancellation of the first half of their North American tour in January, while RHCP will come to Boston for a show at Fenway Park on Sept. 10. Foo Fighters announced in March they would be pulling out of the festival following the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins at age 50.

Of the 50+ artists on the bill this year, 18 have New England ties, with Appel saying that “it was very important to us that Boston Calling 2022 shine a spotlight on local and regional artists more than ever before.” Among the up-and-coming local acts on the bill are Brockton rap collective Van Buren Records, Boston rapper Cam Meekins, Milford rockers Born Without Bones, and Boston musician/filmmaker/professor Cliff Notez.

“I’m about to be on one of Boston’s biggest stages with a bunch of my friends throughout the day,” Cliff Notez said in the release. “To say we dreamed of this at some point is an understatement, we’re all looking forward to giving fans some of the most amazing performances we’ve ever seen. Wait until you see what we have up our sleeve!”

Single Day General Admission ($129.99), Single Day General Admission 2-Packs ($249.99), VIP Passes ($349.99), and Platinum Passes ($899.99) will be available at bostoncalling.com.

For the first time, Boston Calling is also offering fans a chance to buy 2-day GA tickets for $228.99, or a 2-pack of 2-day GA tickets for $449.99.

Along with the 1-day and 2-day passes, the standard 3-Day General Admission tickets ($369.99), 3-Day VIP tickets ($999.99), and 3-Day Platinum tickets ($1,999.99) — as well as a two-pack of 3-Day GA tickets ($699.99) — remain available on the festival website.
