Boston’s annual Harborfest celebrates its 40th year this summer, bringing live entertainment, historical reenactments, a chowderfest, and fireworks to downtown Boston from Friday, July 1 through Monday, July 4.

Public officials will kick off the weekend at noon on July 1 in Downtown Crossing, while re-enactors and USS Constitution staff engage with visitors and the 215th Army Band and Downtown Boston Brass provide live music. The weekend features a Downtown Crossing arts and crafts market on Friday and Saturday, a Pooch Parade on Sunday, and a reading of the Declaration of Independence at 10 a.m. on Monday.

Visitors on Saturday can also expect a chowderfest highlighting local restaurants at noon, a Classic Car Showcase at 12:30 p.m., and a Fife & Drum Festival at 2:00 p.m. A pre-fireworks concert starts the evening festivities at Christopher Columbus Park, while the fireworks launch at 9 p.m. at Long Wharf.

Boston’s annual Independence Day celebration begins on Monday morning with a parade at 9 a.m., starting from City Hall Plaza and ending with a reading of the Declaration of Independence from the balcony of the Old State House. The celebration continues into the evening with the Boston Pops concert and fireworks at the Esplanade. For a full schedule, visit bostonharborfest.com.
