Welcome the holiday season at Christmas by the Sea in Ogunquit

Celebrate Christmas by the Sea with s’mores, caroling, craft fairs, and more.

Christmas by the Sea in Ogunquit. Ogunquit Chamber of Commerce

Legend has it that the village of Ogunquit was named so by the Abenaki tribe because the word means “beautiful place by the sea.” Visitors can enjoy all of the seaside beauty at the town’s 35th Annual Christmas by the Sea celebration Dec. 10-12. Guests can take part in various festive events, including making s’mores, caroling, tarot card readings, music by the Wells High School Select A Cappella Chorus at Ogunquit Baptist Church, and, of course, a tree lighting in Perkins Cove.

Still need a photo with Santa? No problem. You’ll find him at the fire station on School Street. After that, go on a “Drive-Thru Santa Adventure,” making stops at Bangor Savings Bank and Rotary Park at Perkins Cove, where Santa will give away treats to children and they can mail letters to him via the Perkins Cove Sail Mail Express. Children can also help Santa find his lost reindeers throughout Ogunquit before Christmas Eve for a chance to win $50. More fun awaits at the Ogunquit Christmas Parade, the Wells Christmas Parade, bonfire on the beach, fireworks shot from the Main Beach parking lot, and the Seacoast Men of Harmony choir concert. The historic Meetinghouse will have a holiday market filled with craft vendors, food, gifts, and much more.
