Longest-running wine fest in the U.S. returns to Boston with new flavors and special guests

The country’s longest-running wine festival returns this winter to the Boston Harbor Hotel at Rowes Wharf—but it looks, smells, and tastes a little different this time around. For one thing, the annual festival adds “food” to its moniker for the first time, though the long-running lineup of unique events—which take place from January 21 through late March this year—always entices the senses. Most importantly, a new chef is at the helm: David Daniels is now executive chef of the Boston Harbor Hotel, after taking the reins from celebrated chef and festival founder Daniel Bruce, who retired after more than 30 years. Chef Daniels introduces some new programming to the festival this year, including a Visiting Chef Series which will welcome culinary icons from across New England; and special evenings that integrate art, theater, music, and wine. Highlights include Sunday Cocktail Jazz Brunches on January 23 and March 13; a Truffle Seminar and Dinner on February 5; and a weekend of events with Nantucket novelist and creator of the social-media Cringe Cooking Show Elin Hilderbrand from February 25 to 27.
