Kick off the holiday season with the 80th Annual Boston Common Tree Lighting

The festivities take place Dec. 2.

The Boston Common Christmas tree in 2018. City of Boston

Watch the holiday lights sparkle as Mayor Michelle Wu, joined by Santa Claus, Rudolph, Frosty, and members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, illuminates Boston’s official Christmas tree gifted from Nova Scotia.

The event will include a festive stage for nationally-known talent and close with a pyrotechnic display by Atlas PyroVision. As part of the festivities, trees throughout the Boston Common and Public Garden will also light up. Anthony Everett and Shayna Seymour from WCVB Channel 5’s “Chronicle” will host a live broadcast of the event beginning at 7 p.m. Various artists, which have not yet been announced, are scheduled to perform at the tree lighting and refreshments will be served. Check the Boston Common website for parking information.
