A New England town just landed on Travel + Leisure magazine’s 11 best cities in the nation to retire.
The travel publication released this year’s list of the 11 best cities to retire in the U.S. on Saturday to help future retirees wrestle with their question of where to settle, and Manchester, New Hampshire made the cut.
With input from several sources, the magazine said it considers basic criteria like affordability, weather, tax structure, health care availability, social activities, and safety when naming the final picks.
According to Travel + Leisure, Manchester is a seasonal stunner.
“Another destination for lovers of seasonal weather, this town is surrounded by mountains, forests, and stunning views,” the publication wrote. “The area receives more than five feet of snow each year, so winter sports fans will have plenty to do. The fall foliage here is spectacular, and come summer, beaches are less than an hour away. Shopping at the farmers market and cheering for local high school football teams and professional sports clubs create a sense of community.”
While four cities from Florida topped the list, the magazine’s picks also included towns from Tennessee, both North and South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Texas.
