Well, well, well. First the Red Sox squashed the Yankees in the ALDS, and now we’ve taken something else that’s just as sacred.

This morning, TripAdvisor announced that Regina Pizzeria is the country’s top-rated pizzeria on the travel site. Sifting through millions of reviews and weighing “the quality and quantity of reviews and great pizza reviews,” the site created a list of the top 10 U.S. pizza restaurants, with our local all-star coming in at No. 1. NYC’s Bleecker Street Pizza came in at No. 2.

“Everyone wants to know where to get the best slice and after sinking our teeth into TripAdvisor data, we delivered the top pizzerias and cities for pizza across the country,” said Brooke Ferencsik, senior director of communications for TripAdvisor, in a news release. “A list with a lot of flavor, it’s topped by some iconic destinations for pizza along with some surprising tastes in Nashville and Anchorage. The common ingredient in all of these spots is an exceptionally delicious slice.”

Another New England spot made the top 10, with Modern Apizza in New Haven, Conn., coming in at No. 3. Other pizzerias to make the list include Home Slice Pizza in Austin, Texas (No. 4), Five Points Pizza in Nashville (No. 7), and Andolini’s Pizzeria in Tulsa, Okla. (No. 9).

The calculations gave more weight to reviews posted in the past year, and the featured restaurants all have at least 500 reviews, a rating of 4.5 out of 5 bubbles, and a maximum of 15 locations as of September 2018.

TripAdvisor also released its findings for the top 10 U.S. pizza cities — not to be confused with the top pizzerias. Alas, New York City reigned supreme on this list at No. 1, while Boston squeaked by at No. 7.
