Local vendors are giddy — we suspect Bostonians are, too — for the season opening of two open markets this weekend, Greenway Open Market and SoWa Open Market.

“It’s official — we are one step closer to summer — open markets open this weekend!’’ posted New England Open Markets on social media this week.

For those who don’t know, these large, open air markets offer a seemingly endless array of handmade and locally produced goods. And don’t forget the wildly popular food trucks and farmers markets. We’ll tell you more about where to go and what you’ll find there. But first, vendors have been working hard to prepare for this weekend’s opening. Here’s a sneak peek at their efforts.

They are literally dusting off their tents. Hockman Photography posted this photo to Twitter:

They are creating new products, like these from zooguu:

And rolling out new designs, like this from Camla Jewelry:

And also lining up their handmade inventory, like Ape & Bird has done with these hats:

The Greenway Open Market, opening Saturday, offers crafts, clothes, art, jewelry, and more. The market will be open each Saturday through Oct. 11 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. In July, it will stay open until 6 p.m.

Don’t know where to go? Look for it between the New England Aquarium and Faneuil Hall on the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway in downtown. And look for the food trucks, too, which will offer everything from Chinese-American cuisine to vegetarian dishes to homemade cookies. Four newcomers this year include a Bacon Truck, Benny’s Crepe Cafe, Evan’s New York Style Deli, and Stoked Wood Fired Pizza Co.

SoWa Open Market opens Sunday in Boston’s South End at 460 Harrison Avenue (SoWa is short for “south of Washington’’). It will be open every Sunday through Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and features 130 artists and designers, 70 farm and food vendors, and 25 food trucks. It has become a mecca for innovative and funky handmade items. A farmers market offers locally grown produce, plants, and flowers. Food trucks dole out everything from grilled cheese sandwiches to brick oven pizza to organic meals. The trucks open at 11 a.m.

We’ll leave you with this tweet of excitement from local jewelry maker Wendy Baker from Bendywho jewelry:

Oh, and don’t forget to mark your calendars for opening day of the Cambridge Open Market, which will be open Fridays from June 27 to August 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
