Airplanes’ close quarters can breed high-altitude havoc at times — sometimes you have people fighting over knee space or clipping their toe nails, and other times you have social media stars parading around nearly naked.
Jerome Jarre, whose six-second clips of pranks have amassed him 7.5 million followers on Vine, decided while on a flight from Mexico City to Miami this week that it would be a good idea to emerge from the airplane’s bathroom wearing a yellow Speedo and carrying a large rubber duck.
Jarre’s quick change alarmed a flight attendant (shocker), who called the police. Jarre, meanwhile, decided to let his Twitter following in what was going down.
He begged his 873,000 followers to let others know about his plight, and they answered — 12,000 people retweeted and nearly 10,000 favorited his plea.
Then he braced himself, complete with a crying emoticon, for his meeting with police in Miami.

The Vine, “Speedo on a Plane Gone Wrong!’’ was deleted (but Jarre retrieved it and posted it to YouTube yesterday) and the FBI wound up letting him go. Jarre thanked his fans for their persistence.

American Airlines, meanwhile, took heed of Jarre’s impromptu hashtag campaign (#AmericanAirlinesCHILLOUT) and declined to press charges, though the airline did tell betabeat.com that Jarre might want to strip down closer to Earth next time.
“Speedos look good on the beach, but no one likes to see them dancing down the aisle at 35,000 feet,’’ a rep said.
