WEST YARMOUTH — Floating down a lazy river. Barreling down a 45-foot-high water slide. Facing down several gallons of water dumped from a giant lobster pail onto unsuspecting waders below. The Cape Cod Inflatable Park, home of such adventures as the giant Zorb ball and inflatable rock climbing, has added a new, liquid dimension with its 2-acre H2O Water Park.
The 625-foot lazy river takes riders around the park on clear plastic tubes (tandem tubes let parents and kids ride together). Visitors who take on the giant inflatable water slides will splash down into a pool at the bottom. Kids and adults can test their dexterity and balance as they try to cross the lily pad pool by stepping on a series of floating objects. At one end of the park, a water structure marked by an “Entering Cape Cod’’ sign features a series of serpentine slides topped by a tipping bucket. Want to make a day of it? Rent a poolside cabana, with lounge chairs, a fan, high-speed Internet, and food delivery from the Shark Bites Café.
The water park is the latest addition to the entertainment complex, which also includes an inflatable park with interactive rides and experiences for young children and a more adventurous “challenge park’’ geared to older children and adults. All rides are custom made for the site, said Christina Carey, a park manager who has been with the attraction since shortly after it opened six years ago.
