3 New England hotels are among the most romantic in America, according to TripAdvisor users

Maybe you have a special anniversary coming up, or perhaps you two just need a break from the everyday. Whatever the occasion, if you’re looking to book a romantic getaway this year, we’ve got news for you: Last week, TripAdvisor revealed its top 25 hotels for romance in the U.S. as part of the travel website’s 2019 Travelers’ Choice Awards, and three spots in the region made the list.

Topside Inn in Boothbay Harbor, Maine was the top-ranking hotel for love in New England, nabbing the No. 5 spot. The other two local spots on the list were The Inn at Thorn Hill & Spa in Jackson, N.H., at No. 8, and Chatham Inn in Chatham, at No. 12. The most romantic hotel throughout the country was H2O Suites Hotel in Key West, Fla.

The Topside Inn in Boothbay Harbor, located at the harbor’s highest point, is a bed and breakfast with stunning views of the ocean on four private acres. Guests can take in those ocean views from classic Adirondack chairs facing the water or from the hotel’s covered porch. In the main house, guests can lounge by the living room fireplace with a book, board game, or puzzle. Visitors can choose from rooms in three different buildings, or they can book a private cottage, complete with a full kitchen, screened-in porch, private beach, and 95-foot dock. Every morning, guests are greeted with a complimentary gourmet breakfast with locally-sourced food and Maine roasted coffee.

At The Inn at Thorn Hill & Spa, located at the foot of the White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire, guests can choose from rooms, suites, or cottages. They also have access to a lounge, on-site day spa, and main dining room, complete with mountain views. A complimentary country breakfast is served every morning.

Chatham Inn is a Cape Cod luxury boutique hotel with a restaurant and wine bar. It’s located on Chatham’s Main Street, within walking distance of shopping, restaurants, galleries, theaters, and the beach. Guests get a “chef’s grand breakfast” with their stay, served fireside in the dining room.

The TripAdvisor rankings were determined by reviews submitted by users in 2018.
