Parents searching for the ultimate family vacation spot in New England should look to Vermont, according to TripAdvisor users.
Smugglers’ Notch Resort in Jeffersonville, Vermont, ranked No. 4, and Jay Peak Resort in Jay, Vermont, ranked No. 12 on the list. Homewood Suites by Hilton Anaheim Resort – Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif. nabbed the No. 1 spot.
Families who stay at the four-season Smugglers’ Notch Resort can sleep in mountainside condominiums with up to five bedrooms. During the winter months, kids can learn to ski at Smugglers’ Snow Sport University, a ski school with specially designed, kid-friendly programs. They can also go ice skating, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing at the resort’s Nordic Ski & Snowshoe Adventure Center. For multi-generational sliding fun, the resort offers a family tubing party (with hot chocolate and a bonfire). Off the slopes, kids can frolic in the FunZone 2.0 Family Fun Complex, a 26,000-square-foot indoor playground with arcade games, inflatables, laser tag, ping pong, mini golf, and an arts and crafts station. During the summer, families can splash in four water playgrounds, go zip lining, or take a hike. The resort also has childcare and a teen center.
Jay Peak Resort is a four-season resort in northern Vermont where lodging includes mountainside condominiums, townhouses, and hotel suites. Amenities include an indoor waterpark, ice arena, movie theater, climbing gym, recreation center, and childcare. Families can go skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, hiking, and fat-biking. The resort also has a summer camp and a heated outdoor pool.
