Some Logan airlines are offering discounted airfare to WOW Air passengers

On Thursday, Icelandic budget airline WOW Air totally ceased operations, leaving passengers stranded. Now several airlines, some of which serve Logan International Airport, are providing discounted airfare to those passengers.

Logan officials are instructing WOW Air passengers traveling through Logan to avoid going to the airport, instead directing them to a WOW Air travel alert that says all flights have been canceled and to check available flights with other airlines.

Irish airline Aer Lingus, which can be found at Logan, is one of the airlines offering WOW Air passengers a special fare. It’s eligible to those who were scheduled to fly between March 28 and April 11, and a representative said it varies in price depending on the route. Passengers need to show proof of an existing WOW Air booking and can call 516-622-4222 to book.


Norwegian Air is offering a 25% discount on economy fares on routes that include Boston to London and Boston to Paris, according to a Norwegian representative. The fare is valid March 29 to April 8, and passengers can book through Norwegian’s call center at 1-800-357-4159. Passengers must have a valid WOW Air ticket for the same route.

Icelandair is offering $160 fights between North America and Europe to WOW Air passengers with a return ticket between March 28 and April 11 from select destinations that include Boston. The fare includes a carry-on of up to 23 pounds and a checked bag of up to 50 pounds. Passengers need to provide a copy of their WOW Air tickets and should call 1-800-223-5500 and fill out a form. The tickets are limited and subject to availability.

United Airlines is offering discounted fares for travel from several cities, including Boston, that are available from March 28 to April 12 and valid for travel through April 30. Customers will need to call 1-800-864-8331 and provide their original WOW Air booking reference and flight number.

American Airlines if offering discounted fares to customers stranded in a foreign country. The fares are available in select markets that were previously served by WOW Air, including Boston. The fare is available for travel until April 12 to and from WOW Air destinations in Europe and until April 25 for travel to and from the United Kingdom. Customers can call 1-800-433-7300 to book.
