If you’re looking to book an experience this season, New England has some of the best options in the country, according to USA Today readers. The publication released its lists of best adventure tours in the U.S. on Friday, and several New England spots made the cut in the categories of white water rafting and scenic train rides.
For those looking for excitement on the water, three New England spots made the list of best white water rafting tours: U.S. Rafting in West Forks, Maine ranked No. 2; Zoar Outdoor in Charlemont came in at No. 5; and Three Rivers Whitewater in West Forks, Maine nabbed No. 9. Western River Expeditions in Salt Lake City, Utah ranked No. 1, according to USA Today readers.
If a train ride is more your speed, two New England options were also on the list of the best scenic train rides in the nation: Cape Cod Central Railroad in Hyannis (No. 5), and Mount Washington Cog Railway in Bretton Woods, N.H. (No. 8). No. 1 went to Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad in Chama, N.M.
And if you’d rather take to the sky, two New England spots were named among the best aerial adventure parks in the country by USA Today readers last month: Ramblewild in Lanesborough took spot No. 3, and ArborTrek Canopy Adventures in Jeffersonville, Vt. came in at No. 9. The No. 1 spot was Shepherd of the Hills Adventure Park in Branson, Mo.
