The publication released its 11th annual best hotel rankings on Tuesday, which evaluated more than 30,000 luxury hotels and resorts across the U.S., Europe, Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, and the Caribbean. Twin Farms in Bernard, Vermont, ranked No. 11 among the nation’s top resorts and No. 22 among the nation’s top hotels. It is the only New England entry among the top 50 in the latter category.

Four Seasons Resort Lanai in Hawaii ranked No. 1 on both lists.

“The travel industry has faced numerous challenges over the past year, emphasizing the need to support and recognize hotels that continue to maintain exemplary standards,” said Zach Watson, travel editor at U.S. News, in a statement. “This year’s list offers a reliable guide for travelers to use when planning their next getaway, whether that’s in a few months or next year.”

U.S. News wrote, in part, about Twin Farms: “This all-inclusive resort in Barnard, Vermont, wows guests with its tranquil atmosphere, ample amenities and impeccable service. Situated nearly 80 miles southeast of Burlington, Twin Farms sits on 300 forested acres and offers just 20 rooms. Lodgers can explore the adults-only property via the resort’s bevy of activities, whether it’s downhill skiing on Twin Farms’ six groomed trails or canoeing across the on-site Copper Pond.”

The resorts on the list are “world-class properties offering everything from hiking and skiing trails to beaches, pools and water parks,” according to the publication. The other five New England resorts in the top 50 are: Wequassett Resort & Golf Club in Harwich at No. 32; Ocean House in Watch Hill, R.I. at No. 44; The Nantucket Hotel & Resort on Nantucket at No. 48; Vanderbilt, Auberge Resorts Collection in Newport, R.I., at No. 49; and Woodstock Inn & Resort in Woodstock, Vermont, at No. 50.

The results are based on top industry awards, hotel star ratings, and guest reviews. View the U.S. News & World Report‘s best hotel rankings.
