BID-Needham appoints new CEO

Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham trustees announced today that they have appointed John M. Fogarty to be president and CEO. Fogarty, 50, has been serving as interim head of the hospital since Feb. 28. He replaced Jeff Liebman, who left after more than seven years to lead Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton.

Fogarty previously served as chief operating officer for CharterCARE Health Partners, formed in January 2010 through the partnership of Roger Williams Medical Center and St. Joseph Health Services of Rhode Island. He was a longtime administrator at St. Joseph before that, and became CEO there in 2007.

“I am very happy to be staying on at BID-Needham,’’ Fogarty said in a press release. “This is a vibrant community hospital that is a true asset to the population it serves. The leadership here has set a forward-thinking course for continued success in the current environment, and I look forward to helping achieve those plans and opportunities.’’
