Loretta Swit is all about animals these days. The actress best known for her role as “Hot Lips’’ Houlihan on the TV show “M*A*S*H’’ was in town Sunday night for an event marking the 25th anniversary of Farm Sanctuary, a nonprofit opposed to factory farming. “Oh my, yes, we’ve made progress,’’ Swit told us before heading to the party, which was held at the home of John Talbot and Dorr Begnal in Dedham. “I try to relate the progress we’ve made to people, and I say, ‘Did you ever in your wildest dreams imagine there’d be no smoking in airports?’ Well, we’re becoming smarter and healthier about everything, including the way we treat animals.’’ She’s currently campaigning to shut down “puppy mills,’’ which she calls a “blight on our intelligence.’’ The 73-year-old actress, who works when she wants to these days, said is prepping to appear in Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron’s play “Love Loss and What I Wore,’’ and she said it could be coming to Boston.
