Driver slams car into Quincy hair salon

Driver shattered the store-front window and knocked out part of a brick wall, according to Quincy police.

A driver crashed into a hair salon on Billings Road in Quincy this morning, shattering the store-front window and knocking out part of a brick wall, according to the Quincy police.

No injuries were reported.

Jim Mei, owner of Jim’s Hair Studio, was in the building when the driver of a Toyota Camry slammed the car into the front window about 9 a.m.

No customers were inside, Mei said.

“It’s lucky,’’ Mei said. “Usually, there’s a chair up against that window.’’

Quincy Police sent a building inspector to the salon at 26 Billings Road, said Quincy Police Officer James Silcox. No citations were issued.

About 12:30 p.m., police tape cordoned off the sidewalk around the business as a worker cleared glass, brick, and other debris.

The salon is closed for the day, but Mei hopes to reopen Sunday.

The city building inspector must deem the building safe before Mei reopens.
