Menino reviewing music festivals following rowdy concert Saturday night

Mayor Thomas M. Menino spoke today with Police Commissioner Edward F. Davis about a rowdy concert this weekend on City Hall Plaza.

Menino also met with officials from two city departments — Special Events and Property Management — to discuss the annual Boston Urban Music Festival.

Several thousand people watched teenage rapper Mac Miller. A video posted on YouTube shows fans tossing plastic water bottles in the air. Another video showed a fist fight among a handful of concert-goers.

Reports of gunshots during the same concert sent dozens of people fleeing down Winter Street, but investigators found no evidence shots were fired, police said Sunday.

Police did not report making any arrests, but city officials are considering whether the music festival will be able to use City Hall Plaza in the future, according to Dot Joyce, Menino’s spokeswoman.
