Drunk driver allegedly kills pedestrian in Burlington

A 51-year-old Burlington man died this morning as a result of injuries sustained when he was hit by a vehicle Sunday night, prosecutors said.

Police responded to reports of a pedestrian struck at Cambridge Street and Olympian Way at 8:10 p.m., said Cara O’Brien, spokesman for Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone.

Anthony Manfredi, 48, of Dracut was allegedly driving under the influence and struck Daniel Jalbert. Jalbert was taken to Lahey Clinic in Burlington, where he died this morning, said O’Brien.

Manfredi was arrested at the scene and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He is slated to be arraigned in Woburn District Court today.
