Goodwin Procter LLP , an international law firm with headquarters in Boston, made a list of the 50 best law firms for women.
The list is put together by the National Association for Female Executives, or NAFE, and Flex-Time Lawyers, a consulting firm that advises the legal profession on such issues as talent management and retention. NAFE is a division of Working Mother Media.

To make the NAFE & Flex-Time Lawyers Best Law Firms for Women list, a law firm must demonstrate a commitment to “women-friendly policies’’ that focus on such issues as flex time, work-life balance initiatives, parental leave, child care, and mentoring programs, the two groups said.
“Our research team has seen an increase in the number of female partners working at the Best Law Firms within the past five years, with women as 19 percent of equity partners, compared to the national average of 15 percent,’’ NAFE president Betty Spence said in a statement.
To make the list, a firm must have 50 lawyers or more and submit an application. The 50 winning firms were selected on the basis of their responses on the applications.
Besides its headquarters in Boston, Goodwin Procter has offices in such locations as Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. The firm has 780 attorneys, including 265 female attorneys, a firm spokesman said.
Regina M. Pisa, chairman and managing partner of Goodwin, became the first female chair and managing partner of a large US law firm in 1998, the spokesman said.
Goodwin Procter has a Women’s Initiative that is designed to maximize networking and career opportunities for women throughout the firm, he added.
