Mount Auburn Hospital has named a new chief financial officer. William Sullivan has joined the Cambridge hospital from St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, a Steward hospital, where he was vice president of finance. He replaced Peter Semenza, who retired.

Sullivan worked for Mount Auburn as a reimbursement analyst for five years ending in 1993. In his role at St. Elizabeth’s, he oversaw all financial operations, including construction of a $30 million expansion and a $600,000 cardiovascular office space, according to a press release. He previously worked for MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham.

Sullivan has a degree in financial economics from Saint Anselm College and a master of arts in business administration from what is now Framingham State University.

“We are excited to announce the arrival of William Sullivan as our new CFO,’’ Mount Auburn CEO Jeanette Clough said in the press release. “Mr. Sullivan has extensive experience in financial management in the health care industry and has achieved successful financial results in a highly competitive market in his past positions.’’
