Suspect under arrest in early morning Roxbury slaying

A 22-year-old man was stabbed to death in Roxbury early today and one man is in custody, according to Boston police and Suffolk prosecutors.

The name of the victim was not released today pending notification of next of kin. He was stabbed on Tremont Street near its intersection with Cunard Street shortly before 1 a.m.

But Suffolk prosecutors identified the suspect as Steven Rolley, 29. He is scheduled to be arraigned today in Roxbury District Court on a charge of murder.

No further information on the cirmcumstances of the murder has been released.

The Roxbury slaying was the 44th homicide in Boston this year compared with 49 murders at this time last year, police said.
