Girl falls from top floor of Lynn three-decker

A young girl fell from a window on the top floor of a three-decker this morning in Lynn, falling onto a parked car before landing in a driveway, according to District Fire Chief James MacDonald.

A three-year-old boy fell from a window on the top floor of a three-decker this morning in Lynn, falling onto a parked mini-van before landing in a driveway, according to Lynn fire officials.

The boy was conscious and alert after the fall at about 10:45 a.m., and his injuries were believed to be non-life threatening, fire officials said. The boy was transported to North Shore Medical Center in Salem, where he was later transported to Mass. General Hospital for further examination, according to District Fire Chief Robert Bourgeois.

The child broke through a window screen before falling from the building on Chestnut Street, District Fire Chief James MacDonald said. Fire officials said the fact that the child fell onto the van, rather than directly onto the concrete, may have lessened the severity of the injuries. The van also minimized how far he fell, which was somewhere between 15 and 20 feet, according to Bourgeois.

Some family members were in the apartment at the time of the fall, MacDonald said, but he had no further details. Police are investigating the incident.
