Man suffers minor injuries after totalling car on Harvard Bridge early this morning

A Lexington man suffered only minor injuries after a dramatic crash on the Harvard Bridge early Saturday morning, according to State Police.

Saro Getzoyan, 31, was driving west on Storrow Drive about 3:30 a.m. when he attempted to take the Massachusetts Avenue off-ramp and flipped his car, a 2007 Lexus IS 250 sedan, State Police Sergeant Michael Popovics said.

The car went airborne before crashing and was totalled, Popovics said.

Getzoyan was removed from the car using the Jaws of Life and was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

The crash is under investigation and Getzoyan has not been charged, Popovics said. Speed was a factor in the crash, Popovics said, but he would not comment on whether drugs or alcohol played a role.

The bridge, which links Boston’s Back Bay and Cambridge near Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and at least one direction of Storrow Drive were closed due to debris and the rescue operation, Popovics said.
