Wayland director Justin Lerner is celebrating a big win. His Wayland-based movie “Girlfriend,’’ which co-stars “Raising Hope’’’s Shannon Woodward, “Twilight’’’s Jackson Rathbone, Amanda Plummer, and Lerner’s leading man Evan Sneider
, picked up the Audience Award at the Gotham Independent Film Awards on Monday night. It probably helped that Woodward’s friend Katy Perry gave the movie some publicity on Twitter (the award is chosen by online voters). Lerner checked in today to tell us about what it was like to hobnob with celebrities. He saw (but didn’t speak to) Charlize Theron, had a nice chat with Tilda Swinton, and got to meet Amanda’s dad, Christopher Plummer. Lerner added that his star, Sneider, got the chance to have a long conversation with Stanley Tucci.
