A teacher’s assistant at a Dorchester school is facing charges following an incident between the assistant and a disabled, non-verbal student yesterday, police said.
The unidentified assistant from the Harbor School is being charged with lewd and lascivious behavior, Boston police said in a statement today.
The assistant was put on paid administrative leave yesterday, said Lee McGuire, chief communications officer for Boston Public Schools. The suspect has worked for the Boston public schools for the past seven years, McGuire said. Resource teams will be placed in all four schools tomorrow to address any questions or concerns about the incident.
School officials are holding a meeting for parents at the school tonight to address the incident.
“We want to make sure parents know that the school is a safe place,’’ McGuire said. “We want to bring to their attention that we’re as outraged at the allegations as they are.’’
The incident is under investigation, officials said.
