Tweet guru Dom Sagolla to address Becker College graduates

Becker College said Dom Sagolla — a.k.a. Twitter User 9 — will deliver its commencement address May 14 at the Hanover Theatre in downtown Worcester.

Sagolla is a Twitter co-creator and the author of “140 Characters: A Style Guide for the Short Form,’’ a primer for those who wish to be known for their erudite tweeting.

The college, which wants to be known as the Sorbonne of video-game design, added that it plans to bestow upon Sagolla an honorary doctorate degree of humane letters for “his innovative contributions to the rapidly changing modes of global communication.’’

Sagolla grew up in New England, and he now produces iPhone apps with his company DollarApp in San Francisco, Becker College noted in its press release.

The release included a statement from college president Robert E. Johnson, who said: ‘‘Dedication, hard work, and simple actions change the world; the Becker College Class of 2012 can look to Dom Sagolla’s example. Dom conveys what is best about the entrepreneurial spirit, and his achievements have served to create, unite, and inspire a global community.’’
