Cambridge Savings Bank expands Sunday hours

Cambridge Savings Bank is adding Sunday hours at more branches, becoming the latest bank in Massachusetts to operate seven days a week at a substantial number of its locations.

The Cambridge bank, which has 16 branches in the Boston area, recently started opening for five hours on Sunday in Acton, Burlington, and Porter Square in Cambridge. The bank said Friday it plans to add Sunday hours to two more branches in Newtonville and Arlington Center on July 15.

TD Bank, the US arm of TD Bank Group of Toronto, already operates most of its branches seven days a week, including almost all of its 153 branches in Massachusetts. And Citizens Bank, owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland, says roughly half of its 254 branches in Massachusetts are open every day. Some other banks, including Sovereign Bank and Eastern Bank, offer Sunday hours at selected locations.

While customers are increasingly banking online, bankers say customers also want convenience when they bank in person.
