Delta Connection flight to Boston diverted, lands safely in New York

A Delta Connection flight traveling from Norfolk, Va., to Boston was diverted to New York’s JFK International Airport this afternoon after the crew declared an emergency because of an instrument problem, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

The plane was able to land safely around 3:30 p.m., the FAA said.

The crew of Flight 4143, operated by Pinnacle Airlines for Delta, experienced a navigation failure after a problem with an instrument and decided to land the plane, said FAA spokesman Jim Peters.

A message left with the Delta public relations office wasn’t immediately returned.

No further information was immediately available.
