Everett man, 35, killed in single-car crash on I-93 in Stoneham

A 35-year-old Everett man was killed early today when his car went off Interstate 93 northbound and smashed into a stone ledge near Exit 36 in Stoneham, State Police said.

The man was the sole occupant of the 2003 Toyota Echo involved in the 1:30 a.m. crash, State Police said. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Police said the car was traveling northbound when the car went off the road for “an unknown reason and struck a rock ledge.’’ The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene, State Police said.

The crash, which caused the closure of two lanes of Interstate 93 northbound for about two hours, is under investigation.
