Massachusetts man arrested for double domestic assault in Vermont woods

A Massachusetts man was arrested in the Vermont woods early Saturday morning after assaulting both his wife and his sister, Vermont State Police said.

David Fachini, 22, a resident of Williamstown, Mass., was arrested around 1 a.m. Saturday in the woods off Risky Ranch Road in Stamford, Vt., in an area popular for four-wheeling, State Trooper Lewis Hatch said in an email.

Fachini punched both women in the face, causing injuries, police said, but both refused medical attention. Fachini also reacted violently when others attempted to intervene in the assault, pushing them to the ground and pinning them in place, police said. Police believe alcohol contributed to the assaults.

Fachini was transported to the Bennington, Vt., Police Department and processed on two misdemeanor counts of domestic assault. He was held on $5,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Bennington County Criminal Court on Monday.
