The company’s goal is to be the world’s largest online retailer of second-hand children’s clothing, said chief executive James Reinhart, who has degrees from Boston College and Harvard Business School.

Existing investors Trinity Ventures and Redpoint Ventures also participated in the round.

In a statement, Highland Capital general partner Dan Nova said, “thredUP is disrupting the $30 billion resale industry by moving something families have been doing offline for generations, online.’’
