A $10,000 reward has been offered by the Westborough family of a University of New Hampshire student who has been missing since Tuesday, a friend of the family said.

Elizabeth “Lizzi’’ Marriott, 19, sent a text message saying she was driving to a friend’s house in Dover, N.H., around 9 p.m. Tuesday. She has not been heard from since, police said in a statement.

Marriott is currently living with her aunt and uncle in Chester, N.H., so she can attend the university in Durham, N.H., said Sue Mahoney, a friend of the family. Mahoney, who answered the telephone at the family home in Westborough, said the family plans to start leafletting today in the area where she lived and disappeared.

Marriott drives a tan 2001 Mazda Tribute with New Hampshire license plates that read 304-5397, Mahoney said.

Marriott is about 5-foot-5, 130 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes.

The FBI became involved with the case Thursday, but would not comment on the investigation, Boston FBI spokesman Greg Comcowich said today.

Police urged anyone with information to call them at 603-887-2080.
